| LIFE CLASS WITH THE ROYAL GLASGOW INSTITUTE |
Sunday 18th October 2009 from 12 - 4pm
The RGI Kelly Gallery
This free drawing session as part of The Big Draw, with support from the ArtStore, was a successful event with many of the enthusiasts drawing for four hours! Artist members of the RGI taught an informal class on drawing the human figure.
The drawing session was open to adults and children (our models were clothed), and our short series of drawing exercises about movement, expression and scale were designed for anyone with or without experience.

| EDUCATION PROGRAMME |
The Royal Glasgow Institute, which is a rich resource of contemporary art, understand that children's visual art experiences need to be nourished and invested in as part of their culture.

The education programme is an exciting opportunity for Scotland's school-aged children to be stimulated and informed with access to contemporary art practice in a gallery environment with an artist.
Programme objectives:-
- To make a positive contribution to the existing school programmes in visual art education.
- To encourage children through contact with artists to identify their own artistic strengths and ways of exploring their creative abilities.
- To build bridges between generations to create greater awareness and understanding of contemporary art practice.
The education programme supports the Art and Design curriculum, which demands that school-aged children are given the opportunities to appreciate the images and objects created in their own and others' artwork. These experiences will hopefully start a life-long interest in visual art and art galleries. As an example: an exhibition of fifty four pieces created by young people from the RGI artist workshops was held in the RGI Kelly Gallery in March 2003 and exhibited at the Institute's 142nd Annual Exhibition at The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
